The SEE Annual Conference on September 24-25 in Ljubljana also saw the awarding of prizes within the SEE photo competition. DANUBEPARKS' photo "Hidden values" won the second prize!
The SEE photo competition was started before summer to promote the projects' and programmes' achievements in an attractive visual way. With an online voting process before the Jury evaluation, a broad audience could be reached. DANUBEPARKS' intention with the winning entry was to show the unspectacular and small but incredibly valuable natural assets. The Little-ringed Plover nest, perfectly hidden among the pebbels, is one of those treasures. These habitats only exist when rivers can flow freely - with this photo, we put river dynamics and the habitats created by them in the focus of attention.
At the SEE Annual Conference, project manager Georg Frank could receive the prize personally. Back home in Austria, the award was handed over to photographer and National Park ranger Franz Kern. The achievements of the ETC-SEE programme were perfectly highlighted with the photo competition. Another focus during the conference was the capitalization of results among projects with similar issues. The leaders of all thematic poles, including DANUBEPARKS for the nature protection theme, reviewed the outcomes and synergies found in a panel discussion. At last, a look into the future presented the three ETC-programmes that will follow the SEE programme in the period 2014-2020.
