Today, in cooperation with the Public Institution Kopački Rit Nature Park, DANUBEPARKS organised a local event at the Visitor Centre of the Nature Park Kopački Rit to introduce the upcoming World Wetlands Day.
The event began with a presentation of the Winter Bird Census results, delivered by the staff of the Public Institution. This was followed by a creative contribution from pupils of the Elementary School “Bilje”, who presented their artworks and delighted the audience with a short play dedicated to the species of Kopački Rit.
Afterwards, the DANUBEPARKS team engaged the children in an interactive educational competition. Divided into three teams—Otters, Eagles, and Pikes—the participants competed in three games designed to encourage learning through play:
- Wetland Pictionary
- Guess Who Am I? (Kopački Rit edition)
- Building a Food Chain
The Pike team emerged as the winner of the competition, but the true success of the event was the enthusiasm, teamwork, and shared learning experience enjoyed by all participants. The event highlighted the importance of wetlands while fostering environmental awareness among young generations in a fun and engaging way.
The event was carried out with the support of the Danube WILDisland Ramsar Regional Initiative, fostering cross-border collaboration and knowledge sharing for the protection of wetlands and natural river islands along the Danube.
